Gastroenterology Specialty in Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Physicians specializing in gastroenterology focus on the human digestive system. It's not just the stomach, as some people think. It also affects the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, small intestine, esophagus, and colon. These doctors work to prevent and diagnose and treat diseases.

Testing often uses endoscopic equipment that is less invasive than other methods. Tubes and small cameras are inserted into the nose, mouth, and rectum to find out what's going on in the digestive tract. Endoscopic procedures include relatively common colonoscopy, and lesser-known endoscopy, ultrasonography, and photodynamic techniques.

Colonoscopy is one of the more well-known procedures and is recommended as a routine examination device for patients over 50 years of age. This procedure is no fun for the patient, for sure. But it defeats the option of undiagnosed disease. Preparations for this screening experience begin the day before. The patient will need to stick to a "liquid only" diet in which no solid foods are eaten.

The patient then has to drink a gallon of prep drink which is often flavored with synthetic lemonade powder. Every twenty minutes or more, the patient will need to swig a glass of this mixture. It does not taste good but a person can drink almost anything for a day. It helps to cool the jug of juice and drink each glass quickly. One should be prepared to stay in the bathroom for the rest of the day while a gallon of liquid does the magical job of clearing the intestinal tract.

In the morning after this part of the preparation is completed, it is time to go to the hospital. He should be accompanied by a driver to take the patient home after the colonoscopy is completed. Upon arrival, the patient will be called back to the dressing room to undress and prepare the operating table. Wearing a hospital gown, the person will be given an intravenous sedative and then fully prepared for the procedure.

The person will not be placed under general anesthesia but will be in a state of twilight. The gastroenterologist will make sure that no suspicious lumps or bumps are present. A biopsy may be taken by a laboratory technician for further investigation. If all goes well, the patient will be given thumbs up and discharged on the same day. If suspicious findings become clear, further testing and treatment will be needed.

Many gastroenterology screenings can save lives. Cancers of the pancreas, esophagus, liver, and other digestive systems are often invasive carcinomas and require immediate treatment once they are identified. Other non-life-threatening diseases treated by these specialists include Crohn's disease, colitis, IBS, malabsorption problems, difficulty swallowing, and more.

The complex systems needed to feed and nourish a person's body are complex. If a person experiences problems in these regions, a competent gastroenterologist should be able to resolve them. learn more visit gastroenterologists in Ahmedabad
